Alongside his brothers, Joe Jonas captured the hearts and lungs of a legion of young female admirers in recent years. But his audience may change a little when the Disney star releases his first solo album, according to singer/songwriter Kevin Cossom.
"We're just trying to give him a little edge," the on-the-rise Cossom told YRB magazine of working with producer Danja on Jonas' music. "He's getting a little older now, and I'm just giving him a little edge, but giving him a lane. The stuff is coming out really good. As you know, Danja, he's so versatile as far as being a producer."
Having worked with chart toppers Britney Spears ("Gimme More"), Pink ("Sober") and Diddy-Dirty Money ("Hello Good Morning"), Danja may be the man to help the teen star make a musical transition into adulthood.
"[Danja's] very versatile, so the sound is a mixture of a lot of different things, but it's definitely something that's coming together," Cossum said of the solo Jonas LP "He's definitely going solo, getting older."
In addition to Jonas, Cossum has work lined up for Keri Hilson, Justin Bieber and Mary J. Blige. He's also finishing up work on his own debut album, LOVE (Levels of Various Emotions).
Jonas has previously said he is working on "a more dangerous sound" like Justin Timberlake for the project, which is rumored to drop next year.
Back in August, Joe told that he's having a blast recording the new material. "I've been working on lots of music," he said. "I've been working [with] lots of musicians having a great time. [I have] been writing with a lot of friends of mine and some artists here and there, and we'll see what comes out it."
