The controversial Sex Pistols frontman ' who lives in the US ' blasted the current coalition government made up between the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties, headed by David Cameron and Nick Clegg respectively.
After collecting the trophy for Best Book, for 'Mr Rotten's Scrapbook', at Wednesday's (23.02.11) Shockwaves NME Awards in London, he told BANG Showbiz: ' don't want your awards, what I want is respect, and the same kind of respect for 30 years that I've shown you, the British people.
''ve never lied to any of you, you know this to be true ' stop lying to me, and we might start making a better world.
'And by the way, how are them two ****s for the price of one running the country at the moment? That's what you get for not listening.'
Despite saying he 'couldn't care less' about awards, John ' also known as Johnny Rotten - said he felt he'd have been a better candidate for the annual Godlike Genius NME trophy than Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who was its 2011 recipient.
He said: 'Honestly I feel in my mind that I've won every award on that list anyway for 30 years of serious work in this industry. And a magazine like this wouldn't appreciate that and they'd rather give it to an American called a Foo Fighter. That was lovely. It's hilarious! I hope he takes it serious.'
