Johnny Marr has announced his collaboration with PF Flyers to design a limited-edition sneaker with all proceeds going to charity partners, The Pictor School and Cure Autism Now. Marr, a formative member of The Smiths and now the lead guitarist of Modest Mouse, has been a long-time fan of PF Flyers. PF Flyers is pleased to be able to donate all shoes and all money raised by this collaboration directly to The Pictor School in Manchester and the registered charity Cure Autism Now.
"I was delighted when PF Flyers invited me to design a shoe" states Marr. "I've been wearing PF Flyers onstage for quite awhile and to come up with a design on a sneaker that will also benefit a charity that is important to me is an exciting opportunity."
"Partnering with Johnny Marr makes perfect sense for PF Flyers," says PF Flyers' Brand Manager, Joe Casagrande. "PF has such rich ties to the music industry so it's only natural to have an icon like Marr design a shoe with the brand."
Marr designed the PF Flyers Center Lo sneaker himself in luxurious dark blue leather with black accents. To top off this collaboration, Marr's signature is etched on the tongue of the shoe. Only 108 pairs of this limited-edition sneaker will be available in the UK and another 108 pairs in the US will be available starting on July 10 2007. UK pairs will be available exclusively via eBay.co.uk with all proceeds directly benefiting The Pictor School. Parallel charitable efforts will also take place in the USA, where all proceeds from the sale of the Johnny Marr designed PF Flyers will go directly to Cure Autism Now (www.can.com).
