Out July 22nd, the single 'New Town Velocity' crafts Johnny's nostalgic and emotional vocals around a main riff that's unmistakeably Marr. "It's about reconnecting with the feelings I had growing up, the ones which shape you," he explained to NME. "It reminded me of the hazy summer morning at fifteen when I decided not to ever go back to school."
Released as a download track, 'New Town Velocity' will also be available on 7" vinyl. It's backed by 'The It-Switch', a brand new song written and recorded specifically for this release which flows between spiralling guitars and a memorable, uplifting hook to create a moment that matches the best of the album material.
Named as NME's Godlike Genius and Q Hero at the Q Awards, Johnny Marr also made a stunning appearance on Later… with Jools Holland in which he played recent single 'Upstarts' and The Smiths' classic 'How Soon Is Now?'.
Tickets go on sale from 9am this Friday priced at £23.50 for London and Manchester, and £21 for all other dates.
