Johnny Marr tour under 'up in the air' after rocker broke his hand while running

Johnny Marr has broken his hand while running and admitted his injury has posed a threat to his upcoming live show - saying everything is "up in the air" at the moment.

The former Smiths guitarist and musician is now in plaster thanks to the injury, which he procured last week in London. "I was running pretty fast and just went straight over," he told the NME. "I banged my shoulder and then realised my hand was in a bad way. Obviously we’re hoping there’s no long term damage."

Unfortunately, it could be bad news for those attending Marr's upcoming live shows, which are in support of his 2013 solo album The Messenger. The musician admitted future tour dates could be in jeopardy, although he's hoping to make a speedy recovery.

"The plan is to do the Leeds Brudenell shows on March 24 and 25 and then the dates I have in South America as long as I can play the guitar when the plaster comes off," he revealed. "Usually that would be after six weeks but I’m hoping it will be OK, it's a bit up in the air at this point. I may have to start drinking heavily."

Meanwhile, Marr's busy schedule is set to continue as he previously told the NME he is hoping to release an album at the end of September - although he also recently revealed plans to write an autobiography following the release of his former bandmate Morrissey's controversial memoirs, stating he has already secured a publishing deal and will start working on it when he's finished recording and touring.
