The Rebel is the second track to be lifted from their album 'The Good Fight' and will be available on 7"" picture disc and download.
A typically anthemic rocker from the London four-piece that boasts a lyric which recalls The Specials' Too Much Too Young.
Delivered with a biting sing-along chorus The Rebel is that rare beast, a modern rock song with some substance at its heart. Not preaching, but a plea to the listener to remember what they wanted to be when they were young and an open ended question of whether they have given up on their ambitions?
Like the Specials' 1979 classic its a plea to a generation of mislead and misinformed youth who are being told that the height of ambition is to marry a premier league footballer or appear on a reality TV show.
The decision to release the band's first 7" picture disc was made in remembrance and celebration of 'The Rebels' producer Alex 'Medi' Clark who died unexpectedly just before Christmas 2007.
Frontman Rob Solly said; "All of Johnny Panic feel fortunate to have worked with Alex and we are proud to have called him our friend."
'The Rebel' is released on Repeat Records April 28 as a download and limited edition 7" picture disc, mixed by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters), mastered by Dick Beetham, distributed by Shellshock.
