Hard to believe, but with almost 20 rap years under his belt, veteran rapper/producer Juicy J is gearing up to release his very first solo album. If that wasn't enough, the Three 6 Mafia star and Academy Award winner is doing it in conjunction with hit producer Dr. Luke and Taylor Gang captain Wiz Khalifa.
"That's actually good gumbo man. Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, Dr. Luke — that smells like money," Juicy said when he appeared on Wednesday's "RapFix Live."
As of now, Juicy's album Stay Trippy doesn't have an exact release date, but his current single "Bandz a Make Her Dance" with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, is steadily climbing up Billboard's rap singles charts. When Juice finally does release his solo affair, he promised MTV News it'll be worth the wait.
"When you think about that, the hits that Dr. Luke has under his belt, he's a genius. Wiz is a genius. Juicy J, I mean I got an Academy Award man, that's cash," he said remarking on the deal he signed with Luke's Kemosabe label and Wiz's Taylor Gang imprint. "Just think a lot of cash, when you think of those names just look in the clouds."
With a trio as successful as Juice, Wiz and Dr. Luke, one may expect egos to clash, but that won't happen, the Three 6 MC said.
"We all on the same level. We're businessmen, we want the same success, we want this album to be outta here," he said. "We want it to be huge, we want the people to enjoy it, we want the clubs to be banging every song on the album. We tryna make this thing to be the greatest thing to ever happen in music. That's our goal. That's the hustle."
