The 66-year-old singer – who tied the knot with partner of 20 years Miranda Rijinsburger last month– said the couple's intimate union in Marbella was the "culmination of many years of love".
He said: "It's the culmination of many years of love, mutual understanding, affection and unconditional support, a relationship that has brought us five children who are our very soul. If Miranda hadn't come into my life, my mind wouldn't be as focused on the future as it is right now – it would be focused on the present, and very likely, more and more in the past.
"When you have five kids, the future – their future – automatically becomes your focal point. And that makes you always look forward."
The couple – whose children Miguel, 13, Rodrigo, 11, nine-year-old twins Cristina and Victoria, and three-year-old Guillermo made up five of the seven guests at the wedding – decided to wait to walk down the aisle until their offspring were old enough to understand what was going on.
Julio explained: "They are thrilled. Now that they're older, they understood perfectly what the day meant and were very moved by it. And we were very moved by it, too, sharing such a special moment with them."
