Justin Timberlake is reportedly taking Sir Elton John's film offer "very seriously".
Elton recently told the Los Angeles Times that Justin was his first choice to play him in a new movie about his life.
The Social Network star has yet to reply to the compliment but he is rumoured to be considering the role.
"Justin is taking it very seriously," a source close to Justin told E! "He's working with his people to figure out exactly how to respond."
Justin has already portrayed the eccentric singer in the David LaChapelle music video for Elton's song This Train Don't Stop There Anymore.
The script has been penned by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall and Elton says he wants the film to be unique.
"I just don't want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn't been like that. It starts with me going into rehab in 1990 and ends when I come out," Elton explained in the interview.
"It would be a jukebox musical in earnest, maybe with a couple of new songs... It's going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge!"
Justin already has a busy filming schedule. He has signed on to play a record label boss in Spinning Gold and he is rumoured to be up for a role in the next Coen Brothers film.
