Now that our long wait for new music from Justin Timberlake is officially over and his new "Suit & Tie" single is breaking records, it's only a matter of time before we get our hands and ears on his brand-new full-length album, The 20/20 Experience.
So who else will be involved in Timberlake's passion project? Well, "Suit & Tie" producer Timbaland will likely contribute to more songs (or potentially all of them, for that matter), and T.I. told that he worked on a handful of songs with Justin and Tim.
"Yeah, I spoke to JT. Me, him and Tim was on the phone," T.I. told while promoting his new movie "Identity Thief," starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. "I did a record for them at the end of last year. They were working on a record together, and I had the pleasure of assisting them on their particular record," he said, before revealing the tentative title of one of the songs. "I think it's called 'Goodbye Homey,' one of them is, and then there is another one; I did maybe two or three records with them."
T.I. and Timberlake first collaborated on "My Love," from 2006's FutureSex/LoveSounds. Tip is just as excited as fans are about the new direction of Justin's music, as evidenced by "Suit & Tie." "It's just great that he's back into doing music. The record he has out with Jay right now is phenomenal," he said of "Suit & Tie." "It was definitely a sound that was missed."
The rapper/actor didn't go into too many specifics of his tracks with Timberlake and Timbaland but did explain the idea behind "Goodbye Homey."
"Well, 'Goodbye Homey' is really, it's saying goodbye to something that is very special to you," he said. "Not necessarily a person; it could be a time of your life, it could be an experience, it could be a relationship, it could be a friend that's passed on. 'Goodbye Homey,' it has so many meanings and definitions. So when you hear it, you absorb it, and then whatever it means to you is what we intended."
Now we'll just have to wait and see if "Goodbye Homey" or any other T.I. collabos end up on The 20/20 Experience. The album doesn't have a release date just yet, but Timberlake promised it would drop this year — and the fact that he just booked a Super Bowl weekend gig could mean we'll see it sooner than later.
