Beef? What beef?
Sure, it seemed like Justin Timberlake threw a light-hearted lyrical jab at Kanye West during his performance of "Suit & Tie" on "Saturday Night Live."
But on the first night of his weeklong stint on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Monday, Timberlake sidestepped any talk of a growing feud with the rapper.
"Did it seem that way?" Timberlake said with a grin after Fallon asked him if he switched up a line in "Suit" to get back at West for an earlier criticism of the singer's hit comeback single.
"I don't remember that . . . Did I change a line? It is live," JT said. "You know, really, everyone, keep calm." During the "SNL" performance, which included the requisite cameo from Yeezy's the Throne cohort Jay-Z, Timberlake sang the new lyric, "My hit's so sick/got rappers acting dramatic."
The immediate response was that JT was hitting back after Kanye rapped, "I got love for Hov/but I ain't f---ing with that 'Suit & Tie,'" during a February 23 show in London.
"Let me just, for the record, " Timberlake clarified. "I absolutely love Kanye. So there's that. We love Kanye, right?"
The Timberlake lyrical switch up had some wondering how it might affect the Jay/Kanye relationship. So far Jay has not weighed in on the controversy and it is full-steam ahead for the 12-city "Legends of the Summer Tour" with Timberlake, which will hit 12 stadiums starting in July.
