Leeds lads Kaiser Chiefs will headline the opening night of the Isle of Wight Festival, which will take place over 3 days on 13th, 14th & 15th June. This completes the trio of top headliners for 2008's Festival - Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols and The Police.
Kaiser Chiefs have undoubtedly established themselves as one of Britain's most successful bands of the past few years, having scooped 3 x Brit Awards for Best Rock Act, Best Live Act and Best Group plus an NME Award for Best Album. Their Mercury Prize nominated, 5 x platinum debut album 'Employment' was one of the most hyped debut albums of all time and second album 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob' plus lead single 'Ruby' both went straight to the top spot earlier this year.
Saturday night is sure to see iconic punk rockers Sex Pistols deliver a unique show. This year marked the 30th Anniversary of the Sex Pistols debut album Never Mind the Bollocks... Here's the Sex Pistols and what better way to celebrate than by being part of the Isle of Wight's 3-day holiday in the sun.
It will be The Police taking to the stage for the coveted Sunday night headline slot. The Police will return to Europe in 2008 as part of their Billboard Award winning tour, and the Isle of Wight Festival performance will be the only UK festival show for the trio.
Now in its seventh year since its reincarnation in 2002, the Isle of Wight Festival brings together 50,000 free spirited, music loving, friends, families and Festival goers in front of one almighty stage, in a simply stunning setting. It is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive and well-loved festivals on the calendar and the two UK Festival Awards for Best Major UK Festival and Outstanding Contribution to Festivals (awarded to John Giddings) are proof of just that.
The Isle of Wight Festival takes place 13th – 15th June at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight
