Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has revealed the band were asked to record the official World Cup anthem in 2006 - but turned it down.
The singer and current coach on The Voice told The Sun: "We were asked to do a World Cup song but we said no. We said we didn't have the time. But you can make some time for something like that.
"When the World Cup was on, we were all sitting in the pub going, 'We could have been doing this'," he admitted.
The World Cup song was eventually recorded by Embrace, who released the rather unmemorable 'World At Your Feet' in support of England's participation in the Germany tournament. It didn't help - we were knocked out at the quarter finals by Portugal.
"When we got in a room again it did feel a lot like it was in the beginning," Wilson admitted. "It felt like our first record because we didn't know where it was going, we didn't know if we had an audience, all we wanted to do was sit down and make music together."
Education, Education, Education and War is set to be released March 31.
