The 'Flood' singer confesses she has had deep philosophical conversations with herself in recent years and has come to the conclusion she may not be from Earth.
She said: "I don't even know if I'm human sometimes. I know that sounds mental, but I do believe we are all a bit like aliens."
The Georgian-born beauty also believes her new departure from folk music to more electronic-based material is still "simple", despite the change in sound.
She said: "Maybe what I'm now talking about is a bit strange, but there's still simplicity in it. I don't think this will baffle anyone.
"I will defend the previous material. Those songs were a lot about love. They were arresting and they were intense, emotionally."
The 25-year-old star also reveals she has spent time off prior to the release of her new album 'The House'.
She said: "I have enjoyed it. I don't regret it. There have been a lot of strange times but having the year off was one of the best things I've done.
"It meant being at home for a bit. Finding my roots. Doing a bit of gardening."
