The former glamour model – once known as Jordan – is claiming compensation from the salon after travelling to the USA last December to see A-list client specialist Lea Journo.
However, with the Parisian hairdresser unavailable, Katie was instead seen by another stylist, who, while dyeing her hair blonde, also supposedly imperfectly added extensions as part of the £11,000 process.
A source claimed that, while the extensions “looked fine” after being blow-dried, “Katie said it felt uncomfortable” because “the extensions were tugging at the roots”.
Once the 33-year-old was back in Britain, she got a “hairdresser to look at the extensions” and that expert said “they had been applied unevenly”, resulting in her hair becoming “very weak from the colouring”.
The insider added that “the damage will take a long time to repair” as Katie’s hair “was brittle and broke off easily” to leave “different parts different lengths”, with sections just “a few centimetres long” at the front.
Katie was supposedly offered a 50% refund and asked to return to LA so the extensions could be repaired by the salon after complaining, although that invite has been withdrawn and she is now seeking legal advice in an effort to receive full compensation.
However, salon colour technician Alexandra Thomas is not impressed, stating that, although she “can’t really talk about” the incident, Katie “was making a stink” following a “big bust-up”.
The employee is untroubled by the scandal and believes Katie won’t “be coming back”, before adding that everyone at the salon reckons that “is a relief” because they are used to handling “the biggest stars in Hollywood” and she is “a nobody”.
