The former glamour model – who has sons Harvey, eight, Junior, five and daughter Princess, three, from previous relationships - and her cage-fighter husband Alex Reid had fertility treatment to try and conceive a child of their own and Katie wants him to use the embryos even if she dies because she wants lots of “Mini–Mes”.
Writing in her new autobiography ‘You Only Live Once’, she revealed: “There were serious issues we needed to discuss. What would happen to our embryos if either of us died? Would the remaining partner be able to use them?
“I told Alex, ‘If anything happens to me, then of course you can use the embryos. That way there can be lots of Mini-Mes after I've gone! The more the merrier!’ Alex said the same.”
Although she conceived naturally with her three other children, Katie admits the struggle to get pregnant with Alex has put a strain on their marriage.
Recalling one emotional conversation the couple had after an unsuccessful IVF treatment, she revealed: “Alex and I had been so hopeful, so excited, and now all our dreams were dashed. We had one really emotional phone call, ‘Do you still think of me as a man when I haven't got you pregnant? Do you love me less?’
“My heart went out to him, ‘Alex, don't EVER think like that. I love you, and I'm with you whatever happens. We will have a baby one day; we'll do whatever it takes. We are in this together.’ ”
