Overview
Richards, 66, was said to have attacked a Swedish journalist during a recent interview as he continued to promote his new autobiography Life in Paris.
According to an article in Swedish tabloid Aftonbladets, the journalist Markus Larsson claimed Richards became hostile when he remembered he had given the band a bad review in a previous article.
However a spokesman for Richards has said the story has been made to sound more dramatic than the actual event.
A statement was issued to UK newspaper MailOnline that said: 'At the conclusion of the 20min interview, Keith Richards jokingly tapped the journalist on the head after his questions got a bit silly.
'From the people in the room during the interview, they would suggest that the writer has allowed his imagination to get the better of him.'
