The 67-year-old Jumpin’ Jack Flash hitmaker certainly has no great love for the Windsors, stating that, as he has “no interest at all” in royalty, he “wouldn’t go near that family” – even if he was up for a knighthood.
However, Keith did concede that “they’re very good for England”, but only for “as long as they bring in the tourist bread”.
The aging rocker added that it didn’t even register with him that he wasn’t on the guest list for Prince William’s marriage to Kate Middleton last month.
However, Keith did heap praise on actor Johnny Depp – whom he stars alongside in On Stranger Tides, the latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies – as they are great friends and drinking mates.
Mind you, that’s not saying much as Keith added that, while “Johnny loves red wine”, he would “drink anything that’s available”.
But Bono, the lead singer with Irish rock band U2, doesn’t fare so well in Keith’s eyes.
Although the Englishman reckons “U2’s a good band” and “Bono is an interesting guy”, he “wouldn’t say he is my favourite guy to hang with”.
