Keith Urban goes into rehab

Keith Urban has checked himself into a treatment center at an undisclosed location.

A statement from Urban's publicist said, in full:

"Keith Urban voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment rehabilitation center last night with his wife by his side.

"'I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me,' said Keith. 'One can never let one's guard down on recovery, and I'm afraid that I have. With the strength and unwavering support I am blessed to have from my wife, family and friends, I am determined and resolved to a positive outcome.'

"As a result of his treatment, all immediate appearances for his forthcoming CD will be postponed."

His publicist, Paul Freundlich, confirmed to CMT Insider that Urban is being treated for alcohol abuse. In postponing his upcoming appearances, Urban has canceled a Nov. 6 performance on the CMA Awards show, Freundlich said.

The Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., announced that Urban's scheduled appearance on Friday (Oct. 20) was canceled, due to "illness," and said ticket refunds will be made available. He was scheduled to join a number of other celebrities in observing the Mohegan Sun's 10th anniversary weekend celebration. Others appearing include Jerry Seinfield, Kevin Costner and Barenaked Ladies.

Tickets were scheduled to go on sale Saturday (Oct. 21) for Urban's Nov. 11 concert at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago.

Urban's next CD, Love Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing, is scheduled to be released Nov. 7. The first single from the album, "Once in a Lifetime," is at No. 6 on the Billboard country singles chart. Urban has said the song, which he co-wrote, was intended as a personal affirmation.

Urban married actress Nicole Kidman on June 6 of this year, and they have been living in Nashville. Kidman had spent this week in Kosovo.
