Kendrick Lamar has confirmed that he is engaged.
The hip-hop star has been in a relationship with girlfriend Whitney Alford since High School. And on Friday the 27-year-old confirmed recent rumours that he had popped the question to his beloved.
"Yeah, definitely. I'm loyal to the soil," he told Power 105.1 radio show The Breakfast Club.
The star is notoriously private and didn't reveal any further details of his proposal. However back in January, he did tell Billboard why Whitney was so special.
"I wouldn't even call her my girl," he revealed. "That's my best friend. I don't even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion—she's somebody I can tell my fears to."
The happy news comes just two days after the Poetic Justice performer released the music video for his single King Kunta, which is featured on his new album To Pimp a Butterfly.
While Kendrick is busy with his career right now, he did reveal to radio show Hot 97 back in November that he can't wait to become a father. In fact he admitted he wants a huge family when the time is right.
"I love kids. I wanna have like 10 kids," he smiled.
But before he becomes a parent, Kendrick is keen to keep making a statement with his music. He has received much critical acclaim since his first retail release Overly Dedicated in 2010. But while he appreciates the feedback and the accolades that have come with it, they don't make or break him.
"It's great, but it's not confirmation of success for me," he added to Hot 97.
