On the heels of the U.S. House of Representatives announcing the introduction of a federal bill called the Humane Cosmetics Act legislation that would phase out animal testing for cosmetics as well as ban the sale of newly animal-tested cosmetics pop star Kesha has vocalized her support of its passage in a brand new PSA with The Humane Society of the United States' #BeCrueltyFree USA campaign.
The PSA video, shot by renowned celebrity photographer Robert Sebree, features Kesha getting ready for a night on the town using various cosmetics to achieve her stunning look. Surrounded by rescued bunnies, the thought-provoking video asks consumers "Does animal testing lurk behind your cosmetics?"

Each year, tens of thousands of rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, and other animals are used in painful, deadly experiments meant to substantiate the safety of cosmetics. The passage of The Humane Cosmetics Act would bring the U.S. in line with more than 30 other countries home to more than 1.7 billion consumers that have already implemented similar bans on product testing.
Kesha states, "Once I was educated about the hidden cruelties that lurk behind some cosmetic products companies, I knew I had to take action and do everything in my power to end this inhumane practice of testing our cosmetics on animals. Around the globe tens of thousands of animals are killed in unnecessary tests for beauty products. Congress has introduced The Humane Cosmetics Act a bill to end cosmetics testing on animals in the United States. But even now it's easy to avoid buying cosmetics tested on animals by only buying cruelty free products. The power lies with us and we don't need to harm animals to be beautiful! My hope is that with the help of the HSUS's BeCrueltyFree campaign, we can ignite a cruelty-free revolution and that the United States and other countries join the 30+ others who have already banned egregious cosmetic animal tests. Let's #BeCrueltyFree!"
