Kesha once testified under oath that the sexual coercion she described at the centre of her new lawsuit against Dr Luke never took place.
Kesha, who made the claims against the producer earlier this month, had previously had to testify in a case in June 2011 regarding a former label. As reported by NY Daily News, Kesha said in a secret deposition testimony in June 2011 that Dr. Luke never gave her cocaine, a "roofie" or coerced her into sex.
In the deposition, that has been revealed following a request by the producer's own legal team, it also reveals that Kesha was unable to corroborate her mother's account that Kesha's once woke up in Dr Luke's bed with no recollection of what had occurred. Most damningly for her case, at one point Kesha says "Dr. Luke never made sexual advances at me" under oath.
Kesha's lawyer rubbished the claims. "He threatened her and she equivocated because she was under threat. This is a desperate attempt on their part to blame the victim," Mark Geragos told The News. "After this deposition, after the threats, she went into rehab and therapy and now she's finally strong enough that she's not going to be intimidated or threatened anymore." Kesha's legal team also said that the producer had threatened 'he would shut her career down'
Luke's own legal counsel responded. "Kesha's lawsuit is a spectacular and outrageous fiction that will go down in flames. As the truth emerges, this sad and misguided smear campaign will only hurt Kesha," Christine Lepera explained. "Luke hasn't seen Kesha in years. This kind of cynical grandstanding in which false claims of abuse are used as a negotiating tactic insults real victims."
