Kesha to perform at Coachella

Kesha is planning to put her recent contract battle behind her for a surprise appearance at this weekend's (15-17Apr16) Coachella festival in California.

The Tik Tok singer lost her bid to dump her Sony contract in February (16), but she's still waging a war with former mentor and producer Lukasz 'Dr. Luke' Gottwald, claiming he physically and emotionally abused her during their 10-year musical partnership.

However, reports suggest the pop star is hoping to make a major performance comeback after spending months battling her boss at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

"Kesha is beginning to realise that she needs to take her career into her own hands, and this is her way of doing just that," a source tells X17online.

It's not clear when Kesha will perform, but hers won't be the only much-anticipated comeback at Coachella this year - LCD Soundsystem and the classic Guns N' Roses line-up have also booked bill-topping sets at the festival.

In her 2014 lawsuit, Kesha alleged that Gottwald abused her, and she asked to be released from her contract with both Gottwald and Sony Music, which is set to run through 2017. In February (16), a judge ruled that Kesha would not be freed from her contract, which the pop singer claimed restricted her recording output - as she couldn't work with anyone but her alleged abuser.

The producer, who is also countersuing Kesha and her mother, has always maintained the allegations against him are false. He also insists his estranged protegee's contract dispute claims are bogus, stating Kesha has always been free to work with whoever she wants.
