Kevni Costner has pulled out of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, citing scheduling conflicts for his change of heart.
Costner was due to play Ace Woody, one of villain Calvin Candie's group of bandits, in Tarantino's retelling of the 1966 spaghetti western, Django.
Instead of working for the Pulp Fiction director, Costner will be starring in a television movie titled The Hatfields and The McCoys for long time friend Kevin Reynolds.
The Canadian star is currently shooting Superman: Man of Steel, where he will appear as Jonathan Kent, Clark's father.
Danny McBride - he of Your Highness fame - is being lined up as a potential replacement.
Jamie Foxx will star as freed slave Django, trying to free his wife from the tyranny of Candie, who will be played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Django Unchained is scheduled for release in 2013.
