Kevin Smith will bring his movie-making career to a close with a two-part ice hockey film, Hit Somebody.
Smith rose to prominence with 1994 indie flick Clerks, and has made films including Mallrats, Dogma and most recent effort, Red State.
Hit Somebody tells the story of Buddy, who fantasises about one day scoring a goal in the NHL, The Hour has reported.
The first installment will show Buddy as a child, with part two focusing on his professional hockey career.
Both Nicholas Braun and Melissa Leo, who starred in Red State, will appear in the movie.
John Goodman and Colin Hanks have also let their interest be known for the project, which was initially pitched as a potential television series.
The title comes from a Warren Zevon song about a Canadian teenager who yearns to be a hockey star, despite not being "That good with a puck."
Red State is released in the UK on September 30.
