The Bergen duo of Eirik Bøe and Erlend Øye today announce details of their brand new album 'Declaration of Dependence', their first for five years.
'Declaration of Dependence' will be preceded by the album's first single 'The Boat Behind' on the 12th October, of which Eirik said…
"The lyric was inspired by our German viola player, Toby. He and Erlend [Øye] were reading an article about someone crossing the Atlantic on a surfboard, when Toby said – in English – there must have been a boat behind. It was a great image. We think this song belongs to our grandparents, but we can't work out which decade we've been inspired by."
This October also marks Kings of Convenience's return to a London stage for the first time since 2004. They'll mark the occasion by playing rare three gigs, including their biggest UK headline show to date at London's Barbican.
October
13th – Bexhill, De La Warr Pavilion
14th – London, Barbican
15th – Warwick, Arts Centre
