The actress has been trying to get the movie off the ground for over two years and she will be taking on the lead role of a New York playwright who tries to win back her ex-boyfriend by faking a suicide attempt.
However, according to Variety, she then ends up being forced into the custody of her mum, who is addicted to gambling.
Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini are both set to direct with the script being written by Michelle Morgan.
Morgan is also executive producer along with Wigg and Steve Golin.
Alix Madigan is producing with Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler, who are using the the project to launch their new company Maven Pictures.
