Kurtis Blow, one of the pioneers in bringing rap music to the world at large, was arrested Thursday at Los Angeles International Airport for possession of marijuana.
Blow came under suspicion when he went through the infamous body scanner. A TSA official noticed a small bulge in his pocket and, upon further inspection, it was found to be 28.5 grams of marijuana. Because of the amount, he was issued a ticket for misdemeanor possession and released by airport police.
Later in the afternoon, Blow twittered "What is this I hear bout me being busted for weed at the airport? Not true. Isn't weed legal in California?"
Kurtis Blow was the first rapper to be signed to a major label when he joined Mercury Records in 1979. His first single, The Breaks (Part 1) went to number 4 on the R&B charts and the 12" version of the record was certified gold. He charted another nine times during the 80's and produced records for artists like Run-D.M.C. and the Fat Boys. During the 90's, he became a popular L.A. area DJ.
