Lauryn Hill to defy house detention

Lauryn Hill will hit the road on tour, even though she's meant to be under house confinement, reports TMZ.

The former Fugees singer was released from prison on October 4, following a three month sentence for tax evasion.

Following her release the 38-year-old singer started a period of three month home confinement.

But TMZ has learned that Lauryn now plans to tour from November 15 until December 31, something the judge has allegedly agreed to.

As part of the deal she'll have to run all the details past her probation officer; including dates, venues and hotels.

Lauryn has already got herself back into the music industry, with the release of new song Consumerism.

To create some buzz about the new tune, it was released the night before she was released from jail.

The song was written and recorded before she entered prison, but it was mixed while she was locked up.

She served her time in the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut for failing to pay taxes on $1.8m worth of income.

She had failed to pay her taxes from 2005 to 2007, and the prosecutors originally wanted her to serve a three-year sentence.

"Consumerism is part of some material I was trying to finish before I had to come in," she posted on her Tumblr page.

"I felt the need to discuss the underlying socio-political, cultural paradigm as I saw it. I haven't been able to watch the news too much recently, so I'm not hip on everything going on," she continued.
