Leona Lewis is being turned into a "feisty" diva.
The 'Bleeding Love' singer is teaming up with super-producer Timbaland - who recently worked on Madonna's album 'Hard Candy' - for the follow-up to her debut LP 'Spirit' and he has promised to take her work in a completely new direction.
A source said: "Timbaland can't wait to work with Leona and make her feisty like Beyonce Knowles and Rihanna.
"The ballads will still be there but the tracks will be racier and there'll be dance floor anthems too."
A spokesperson for the British star - who shot to fame after winning UK TV talent show 'The X Factor' in 2006 - confirmed the collaboration, saying:
"It's early stages but we're all very excited."
Timbaland is not the only artist Leona is set to work with. It has been claimed Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are also keen to record with her, while Michael Jackson reportedly wants her to join him on stage at his 'This Is It' London residency to perform his sister Janet's part from their 1995 duet 'Scream'.
A source said: "Michael has a list of singers he feels could do Janet justice - and Leona is top. He hasn't approached her yet but he's a big fan of everything she has achieved.
"She's massive all around the world and he feels this duet would give both their careers an even bigger boost."
