The remarkable voice of Linda Ronstadt will not be heard when she hits the talk circuit this September to promote her new book Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir.
As a matter of fact, she may be done singing, period.
According to Roger Friedman at Showbiz411.com, the classic songstress "doesn't sing every day, has no interest in revving up her engines, and doesn't feel she can meet expectations of fans."
The idea that we may never hear that golden voice again is a depressing thought. Ronstadt may be best known for covering older rock and R&B hits, but her career has been much, much more. From her start in the world of country rock, she managed to work her way through operetta, classic country, pop standards and mariachi music, doing each with total honesty and credibility every time. She has proven to be one of the versatile voices of the last fifty years and, at 67, it is way too early for it to be silenced.
Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir will be out September 17 via Simon and Schuster.
