Lisa Marie Presley reveals that her late father Elvis' music was "embedded in her very young."
The 44-year-old songwriter is deeply influenced by the musical works of her dad.
Lisa acquired his ear for sound in her youth.
"I think that his music is probably embedded in me very young, because that's what I knew and heard the most," she told Extra.
Although her father remains a deep source of inspiration, Lisa is intent on creating unique melodies.
"I wasn't trying in any way to sound like him specifically. It's just in my genetic code that he will definitely be influencing me in how I hear and think musically," she explained.
Lisa debuted her new album Storm and Grace in May.
The musician spoke previously about her creative process for the record.
"Just over two years ago, I went to England to attempt to write another record after finding myself in a considerably disheartened and uninspired state creatively," Lisa said in a press release. "Over an eight-month period, I wrote 30 songs. I was fortunate to be able to write with some incredible artists and singers."
