Little Boots hails pop music comeback

LITTLE BOOTS has welcomed the return of pop music.

The 'New In Town' singer said the genre has become "cool" again and wants indie bands to work harder to achieve success.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: "I think pop is definitely making a comeback. I've never been interested in doing anything cool, but it's great that the cool kids have got into my music too. I've always wanted to make something big that everyone likes.

"So many indie bands try to write good pop but writing a pop song is a huge challenge."

The 25-year-old singer - - real name Victoria Hesketh - also spoke about her unsuccessful audition for TV talent search show 'Pop Idol' when she was 16, insisting rejection made her stronger.

She added: "I didn't even get to meet the real judges, just the producers. I thought it was funny and was only 16. I wasn't ready for it and 'Pop Idol' wasn't right for me. Now I can't imagine singing someone else's songs and not having any control.

"Being rejected has just made me thicker-skinned. And what careers do those singers really have after those shows end? Leona Lewis has been working hard all her life and is different."
