The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has announced their third class of inductees. Included in the list are veteran artists Lou Reed, Al Kooper, the Shangri-Las and Oscar Brand. The presentation will be made on Tuesday, November 16 at the Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY.
Inductees are selected by the Hall's board of directors from a list of musicians that were born, raised, founded, or have resided on geographic Long Island (Brooklyn/Queens/Nassau/Suffolk) for a significant portion of their career. Induction is based on historical importance and the "significance of their contribution to Long Island's rich musical heritage."
Previous inductees include Carole King, Louis Armstrong, Cyndi Lauper, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Count Basie, LL Cool J, Walter Becker, Pat Benatar, Tony Bennett, Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge, Blue Oyster Cult, Gary U.S. Bonds, Eddie Money, Harry Chapin, the Ramones, Run-DMC and many more.
