The Britain's Got Talent runner-up was said to be inconsolable after licensing issues stopped her from being able to sing the track on the US version of the talent contest.
After being described as 'childish' by the Scottish singer, Lou agreed to direct the video for her version of the song.
He told Scotland's Sunday Mail, 'I wanted to create a beautiful and intimate piece shot in Susan's native Scotland and she quickly agreed.'
Clearly appeased, Boyle added, 'I loved that Lou understood how much it meant to me to film in Scotland. I didn't mind how much it rained or blew a gale, I enjoyed every minute.'
The video premiered on British TV last night, November 7.
