Lykke Li has discussed her contempt for her own early material, saying: "I cannot stand my first album."
The singer, whose third album I Never Learn was released earlier this year to positive reviews, released her debut, Youth Novels, back in 2008 when she was 22.
The album, which includes tracks 'I'm Good, I'm Gone' and 'Little Bit', received critical acclaim, and was nominated for five Swedish Grammis (the Swedish equivalent of the Grammies.)
However it seems, in hindsight, its fiercest opponent is Lykke Li herself. Speaking to The Telegraph in a new interview, the singer admitted: "I cannot stand my first album. It is so bad. I sucked."
Her new album has certainly taken on a less electronic, more melancholic approach. Speaking of I Never Learn, the singer said: "In a commercial sense this album is the worst move I could make: nine songs that just rip your heart apart." She's not lying.
