Machine Gun Kelly worked long and hard on his debut LP Lace Up and though he only signed his deal with Bad Boy Records last year, he's been recording the album for the past two years. On October 9, fans will finally be able to purchase Lace Up,but last week, during his "RapFix Live" appearance, MGK broke down the album's features.
"I actually got one of the greatest metal bands to be featured on it, Avenged Sevenfold," the Cleveland, Ohio, spitter said of Lace Up. "It's definitely an eargasm if you're into cross genre."
A7X lead vocalist M. Shadows and lead guitarist Synyster Gates both appear on the album's intro "Save Me." But for fans looking for more of a hip-hop twist, Kells also lined up Bun B, Waka Flocka Flame, Lil Jon, Young Jeezy, Twista, Tech N9ne, Dubo and his favorite rapper DMX on the recently leaked "D3mons."
If the spirited rapper had one wish though, it would be that he, Tech N9ne and Twista would have recorded their collaboration "Edge of Destruction" together, but unfortunately, scheduling conflicts prevented that from happening. He's still pretty excited about the track however. "We weren't all in the studio, which was a bummer. I wish me, Tech and Twist could've been in there together," he said, "but Twista really fed off of Tech N9ne's verse though."
No matter the case, MGK is proud of the final product. "I really think I brought the best out of the artists, and they really blessed me by not being on no money thing, or no politics. It's all out of love for the movement and what they believed in," he said. "And I really think the album will open up the critics' eyes a lot."
Kells even earned praise from his Bad Boy boss Diddy. "I ended having dinner with him the other day, and he looked at me like, 'Yo, man, I really love the album,' " Kells said.
