Mannie Fresh may not be a part of the upcoming Big Tymers album, but the multiplatinum producer and rapper is plenty busy with a collaborative album of his own. Fresh and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) have been hard at work on their OMFGOD LP, but every time they get close to wrapping it up, new inspiration hits them.
"When I thought we were finished, anywhere we go we bump into cats like Just Blaze or whatever that are just like, 'Man whatever y'all need. We got y'all,'" Fresh told "RapFix Live" of the support he's received from the former Roc-a-Fella producer.
Along with Just Blaze's offers to contribute to Mannie and Yasiin's work, T.I. and Curren$y are also down to lend some rhymes, Fresh says. "Anybody that Mannie was good too. I thank God I've never burned no bridges with nobody and when it's time for me to call in my favors, they're coming," he said.
Lil Wayne, Drake Are Great But 'Not Big Tymers,' Mannie Fresh Says.
Back in March, the dup dropped "Black Jesus," a gospel-soaked, hip-hop bounce. It's not your typical rap single. According to Mannie's estimations, OMFGOD he and Yasiin need about another month before they are finished with the project, and at the moment, they are both free to create as they see fit. "The great thing about it is we have no restrictions. This is something that we're doing, we don't have a record company, we don't have a budget. It's just the love of hip-hop that's making this come together," Mannie said before confirming that he will also be rapping on the LP. "We got a little bit of everything."
