Ex-Take That star Mark Owen has been dropped by Island Records.
The split, reported in a UK tabloid, was confirmed by a spokesperson from the record company. It is the second time he has been dropped for a lack of record sales.
Owen was signed to the label after winning 'Celebrity Big Brother' in 2002. His comeback single, "Four Minute Warning", reached number four in the charts but an album, "In Your Own Time", failed to reach the Top 20.
After initial success in 1996 with the single "Child", Owen had previously been dropped by RCA Records. The success of 'Big Brother' and an appearance at Robbie Williams' record-breaking Knebworth gigs seemed to have resurrected his career.
However, Owen's manager says he is adamant that Owen will continue after setting-up his own label, Sedna Records. He is currently working with Beck/Thrills producer Tony Hoffer.
"He's not giving up - at the moment he's casting for his next video and his single should be out at the end of May," he explained.
