Amy Winehouse's producer and friend Mark Ronson has revealed she was ‘freaked out’ by the global success of fellow London soul star, Adele.
Ronson has spoken out on Winehouse’s feelings of inadequacy and ‘competitive’ feelings towards the ‘Rolling In The Deep’ singer’s phenomenal album success with ‘21’.
"She was in a bad state, God knows why," Ronson explained to The Village Voice. "I think that the Adele thing had Amy freaked out."
"She liked her, but Adele's success was making Amy feel upset, competitive, restless. Anyway, we lost touch briefly. And before she and I could really start the process of beginning a new album, it was too late.''
Adele’s album ‘21’ has become the fifth best-selling album in UK music history, which even overtook Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It is also the best-selling album of this century, followed closely by Amy’s ‘Back To Black’ - which is in second place.
