Mary J. Blige would consider releasing a rock album.
The R&B singer is currently appearing in the musical movie Rock of Ages. Her character Justice is a strip club owner and belts out a series of classic rock songs during the film. Mary says many fans have suggested she should explore a new genre of music on her next record.
"Everyone's approaching me [saying], 'You going to do a rock album?' Maybe that'll be now, because everyone's approaching me about it," she told BBC Newsbeat.
Mary is no stranger to rock music. She collaborated with U2 for her version of One and has covered other hit rock songs.
The 41-year-old star performed Whitesnake's Here I Go Again for Rock of Ages and finds it easy to identify with such passionate tracks.
"The energy in rock 'n' roll is the energy in my music. I deliver strong emotions," she explained. "Every interview I do everyone's asking me, 'Am I going to a rock 'n' roll album?'
"Of course I did a song with U2 and covered some Led Zeppelin stuff."
Rock of Ages also stars Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand.
