MAXIMO PARK were forced to turn away thousand of fans from a charity gig held at a 400-capacity venue.
More than 2,500 people showed up at the Newcastle College Performance Academy hoping to see the band perform in aid of the No Surrender cancer charity.
The arrangement was to give away 400 tickets for free but in exchange for a small donation to the charity,
But many of the fans, who had queued for hours in a bid to secure entry to the concert, were turned away.
No Surrender was set up by the band's friend Jason Boas, who recently passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
