A source told PEOPLE: 'Melissa and Linda have been best friends for over 10 years. They got together three months after Melissa and Tammy broke up.'
Wallem was reportedly Etheridge's 'best man' when she married Tammy in the 2003 ceremony.
Etheridge was spotted with Wallem at the Emmys in August last year and a pal says they 'are in a committed relationship'.
Melissa and Tammy are parents to four-year-old twins Johnnie Rose and Miller.
