Michael Bublé thinks he earned his bad karma after being "careless and reckless" during his relationship with Emily Blunt.
The Canadian crooner and the British actress dated from 2005 to 2008, getting engaged before eventually going through a painful and public breakup amid rumours Michael had been unfaithful. In 2007 photos surfaced of the singer in another woman's bed, which is thought to have led to their parting ways.
Michael is now happily married to Argentine beauty Luisana Lopilato and the couple have son Noah together, but the star is still full of regret for how he handled his previous romance.
"I was a jerk and I was careless and reckless with the hearts of women I was with. And I got my karma. I earned it," he sighed during a three-part interview with entertainment show eTalk.
"I got my butt and heart kicked and it hurt me enough that I looked in the mirror and I didn't want it to happen again. If I wanted to be a happy guy and really fall in love, I would have to love myself."
He added that he finds it "cringey" how he acted at the time and that he's now learnt that being a good guy should be to benefit himself too, not just his partner.
Michael - who even went to therapy to deal with the breakdown of his relationship with Emily - has become more "spiritual" from experiencing heartbreak and quickly realised that life is too short to go about living as he was.
The musician also has his little boy to think about now and he'll never do anything to affect his son's view of him.
"Before I do something or say something stupid I try to think how he'll feel about that when he's old enough to read or see it," Michael noted. "And there's things I've done in the past and it's too late, but I can try and make sure I keep that in mind."
