The actress, who has admitted struggling with her grief over the death of partner Heath Ledger, insists she has yet to find a boyfriend.
And instead she spends each night with her sister - insisting that their close bond helps her fight off the pain of loneliness.
'I've found a way to stave off loneliness,' said Michelle, up for Best Actress at the Oscars for Blue Valentine.
'I share my bed with my sister. I don't mean in 'That Way.' I just mean that she's invaluable. She's an extension of me.
'She, her husband and a couple of friends temper the loneliness and longing I might have.'
Of her dating life, she admitted: 'It's not easy to find some guy to marry. 'My mother asked me to go on the Internet. I don't like that idea. I said, 'I don't think that would work out for me, mum'.'
The actress also revealed she does little to maintain her beauty - and doesn't have a fitness regime.
'I don't worry about my skin. I don't do anything to it or with it. The only problem is, if you touch me too hard, I turn red. And I do not go to the gym or worry about my figure. I don't even exercise. I don't know where I'd find the time.'
