Actor and comedian Matt Berry has set out to battle for this year's Christmas Number One.
The star of hit shows The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, is set to release the suitably-named 'Christmas Song’ single on 4 December.
He told the Evening Standard: "My aim is to release a single that a whole bunch of people, young and old, can say they were a part of. We'd like school choirs, and any kind of instrument to be on there."
Adding: "I think it's a unique project, and a Christmas Number One would be great."
Berry has urged fans to make contributions to charity at Absolute Radio. The money made from the CD's sales will be donated to homeless charity Shelter.
This release will put the actor up against the winner of this year’s X Factor, whoever that may be.
