This June, Miranda Cosgrove will hit the "iCarly" set for the last time. She's set to tape the show's series finale in the coming weeks, and, admittedly, it's a pretty emotional time for the 19-year-old actress.
"We're getting ready to film the very last episode of the show. I feel like I've grown up on the show. I've been best friends [with the cast] for five-and-a-half years now," she told while in New York City filming an episode of her show guest starring Jimmy Fallon.
"It's definitely really sad," she added about taping the concluding episode of the show's fifth and final season. "And it's also really exciting, because we're all going on to do new things and enter new chapters in our lives, and I know I'm always going to be friends with them."
The end of "iCarly" might come as a bit of surprise to fans of the Nick series, but Cosgrove certainly hinted that she was ready to move on when we spoke to her back in January. Even with preparation, saying goodbye doesn't come all that easy, even if she's ready to see what's next for life outside the show.
"They've been saying it's going to be the final season for a few seasons, and then we always end up doing more episodes 'cause we love making the show," she said. "We love doing it, and we have the best time ever, but we didn't want to overstay our welcome because we feel like it's something really special."
While she's not sure how Carly's story will end, Cosgrove is already writing her next chapter. This fall, she will begin her freshman year at the University of Southern California, focusing, for the time being, on her education. But, she noted, she wants to make sure she can fit in acting when the time and the project are right.
The final episode of "iCarly" will air in November, with Nickelodeon expected to air vintage episodes of the hit show indefinitely. After its 2007 debut, it quickly became one of the most-beloved shows on Nick, following the antics of Carly, the star of her own web show titled "iCarly," and her pals as they navigate teen-dom and sometimes get visits from some of the biggest stars on the planet.
During the series' five-year run, everyone from the First Lady Michelle Obama to One Direction to Jack Black have banked appearances on the show, proving just how much it permeated pop culture.
