Missy Elliot has revealed that she has been diagnosed with the debilitating autoimmune illness, Graves' disease.
The 39-year-old rapper was told she was suffering from the disease, which affects the thyroid, in 2009.
“I couldn't write because my nervous system was so bad - I couldn't even use a pen,” she told People magazine.
In a candid interview, Missy Elliot said she first realised something was wrong when she was driving and her leg began “jumping”.
The rapper said she had now got the disease under control and was ready to start work on a new studio album.
