Missy Elliott recalls that her late friend Aaliyah "always wanted to laugh."
The beloved R&B singer passed away in 2001 at the age of 22 in a tragic plane accident.
Missy and Aaliyah worked together extensively and the rapper and producer only has fond memories of the crooner.
"Aaliyah, she was like a comedian. She always wanted to laugh," Missy recalled on RapFix Live.
When Timbaland and Missy first met Aaliyah in 1994 they were extremely anxious.
The now legendary hip-hop producers were just making a name for themselves at the time, and Aaliyah was already successful.
"We were nervous when we first worked with her because nobody knew who we was," Missy explained.
"She came in and was so warming; she made us immediately feel like family."
Aaliyah has been in the news recently because it is thought that a posthumous album of her work is being produced.
Rapper Drake is supposedly involved, which has sparked controversy because he never met Aaliyah.
"I don't even want to talk about that because I'm being asked a lot," Missy said.
"It's very sensitive, but because she represented positive energy. She was positive. I don't ever want to bring controversy around her name."
